GTE Global Tropospheric Experiment

Welcome to the NASA Global Tropospheric Experiment (GTE)

"A commitment by the United States Government to understand the human impact on the global atmosphere."

The GTE campaigns (1983 - 2001) collected a rich set of data records of atmospheric observations, and on many occasions were used as baselines for subsequent campaigns. Datasets from these campaigns are publicly available.

The fundamental goals of the GTE are the development of advanced instrumentation to measure critical trace atmospheric gases; the application of these instruments to field measurements of trace gases in order to quantify their sources, sinks, and distributions; and the synthesis of new data sets to gain improved understanding of the fundamental chemical behavior of the atmosphere.
