PEM Tropics-B Video Tapes

VHS video tapes have been placed in the GTE archive for the PEM Tropics B mission. The following table indicates the tapes available.

Video cameras were placed aboard each aircraft to monitor surrounding clouds. A camera was placed in the cockpit and was aimed about 45 deg. upward to view clouds in the forward direction. Likewise, cameras were aimed downward and to the side (P-3B only) from the aircraft to view clouds in those directions.

Video cameras were also placed aboard the aircraft to record the scope display of the Weather Radar (DC-8 only) and the Storm Scope.

Appendix B of the PEM Tropics A Expedition Plan provides descriptions of all the video camera installations and the Storm Scope and Weather Radar.

The numbers indicate the number of tapes in each set.

The tapes are available on loan by contacting the GTE PROJECT OFFICE at gte+archive@larc.nasa.gov (757-864-5838 757-864-5839). Copies may also be requested for retention.
